What the first call is
Thirty minutes, no deck, no homework.
You describe where the manual work is — who re-types the load status, which report nobody trusts, what breaks during your busiest week. We ask about the systems underneath it. That is the call.
You don't need your processes documented first, and you don't need to know what is wrong. Most people don't. Turning up with "something isn't right and I can't tell you exactly what" is a completely normal way to start, and working out the what is a decent chunk of what we are good at.
